Rock and Roll Bed - courtesy of Rusty Lee!

NOT A TRIP BUT A MAJOR ADDITION TO THE VAN!

So up until now, poor Evangeline has had a very DIY double bed, lots of wooden boards that you slot together and two little legs to screw onto the ends.  It is ok when the weather is good and there are only two of you, but in pouring rain with 3 of you and lots of luggage it is tricky to say the least!

We decided to invest in a proper rock and roll bed.  On investigating the prices it was all pricey, but researching further we found someone local who made them to order to fit in T25s and was reasonably priced and we could save money by collecting ourselves.

though the website does seem to be down for maintenance at the moment.

We contacted Lee a few weeks before to enquire about availability and good job we did as there was a  4 week waiting list!

It looks like this and means that the bed will fold down flat in one smooth movement (and vice versa). S went to pick it up on the Sunday and fitted it in the van on Monday, as on Thursday of that week, he and F were off to Dover for the start of the Summer Adventure to Spain!

TRIP 5 - Quick jaunt to Brean Sands 26-27 June 2015

Trip 5 BREAN SANDS 26-27 JUNE 2015

Friday 26 June

It was a late start in the evening by the time we finished work, but when we went on the website for the site by Brean Sands, there was no set closing time, it only said "dusk".  Confident that midsummer light would mean light until gone 9pm we set off.  Traffic not good but we got there about 8.30pm and I went to knock on the door of the site manager as there was a height restriction barrier at the entrance.

However, when I asked if there were any available spaces he said "Not at this time of night, NO!"  He slammed the door in my face and there we were stumped on where to go next.

We drove down through Burnham on Sea, but it was mostly caravans and statics.

Getting dark now at 9.45 we headed inland and happened to come across

and what a welcoming place it was.  When we explained our predicament we were made extremely welcome, by the lady owner in her dressing gown, who said we could stay for £10 as we were so late.

It was quite near the busy road but you could not hear it when in the van. Showers and toilets, small but clean.

Greenacre Place - Visit Britain 4 Star Touring Park - Adult Only

It is for adults only, no kids, so peaceful for all. Quick visit to the takeaway in Highbridge and we were done.

Saturday 27 June

We were up early to take advantage of the lovely sunny weather and put in an instant good mood, when on going to pay, we were only charged £5! What a lovely lady!

Headed down to Brean Sands and the beach was almost empty.  You can park on the sands for a low price £3 I think it was

Had a lovely morning and lunch on the beach and actually got a bit sunburnt!

Mini breaks are good:)
