Update
So Evangeline has had a few issues the last couple of weeks :(
When we were away in Cornwall, the heating suddenly went cold, and there was a problem with the radiator which seemed to have a leak in. This got fixed and all seemed well for a while but on further investigation, it appeared that the block of the engine had somehow cracked and water was getting in.... This did not seem an easy problem to fix especially as the poor old engine has already done over 200,000 miles of travelling.
So new engine was purchased and finally after weeks of work it is now starting up and sounding healthy again. In fact it is like she has had an enhancing procedure! No longer does she chug but she vrooms! A purring 1.9 Audi A4 engine no less!
She has yet to make it off the drive though as there are a few more issues, which has meant that we have had to cancle our Yorkshire trip which was planned for this bank holiday weekend. Soooo disappointing.
Also it has made the insurance £100 a year more expensive! This has been an expensive month that's for sure.
Hopefully a test drive out in her soon.

This was not really a trip, Evangeline came in useful for her transporting powers, as we had to go to Aylesbury to pick up some conservatory furniture! The main memorable thing about this trip though was the weather! It was snowing! Could not believe it!

We stopped at Bicester Outlet village on the way for a coffee, wow that was an eye opener! Very designer and the only shop I could afford was the Cath Kidston Outlet! It was full of bus loads of foreign tourists and apparently their average spend is £500 per person! The organic coffee and gluten free brownie was nice though! (but pricey ;) )

Journey home thankfully uneventful, though cold and windy and rainy. Calling in to see relis in Faringdon en route ....

To Cornwall 28 March- 1st April 2016
So great to be off travelling in the van again after the winter. We have 5 days to explore Cornwall, I can't believe that we have never been in the van!

The weather has been very stormy over the Easter Weekend and we caught the trail end of Storm Katy driving down the M5. Not too bad a journey though it was windy and you can feel it with a hi-top van! We headed towards Newquay as that is where I had found a quiet spot to stop.
We had booked at Treago Farm

It is close to Crantock Bay and also has a path down to Polly Joke cove. The grass was quite boggy after all the rain but there were good views.
That evening we went down to the pub on Crantock Bay, the Bowgie Inn

Day 2 Tuesday March 29th
Today we went to explore Newquay, it was a lovely bright sunny day. It was tricky to park though, really busy even for the time of year. We had quite a walk down to the town.
A few brave surfers around!
Spent a second night at Treago Farm, it is very peaceful.
Day 3 Wednesday 30th March 2016
Today we went down to St Ives and explored the town and the surrounding coastline. We were in the town early and parked in the car park at the top of the hill. It is an easy stroll down to the town, but not so easy going back up! Luckily there is a bus! Can't believe how busy it is, it must be horrendous in the summer. It is very picturesque, quirky streets and building and lots of little shops.
We had decided to stay near St Ives on Gwithian Bay somewhere and sound a really good campsite just a short distance from St Ives but in a great position

Great campsite with hook up and new shower block. At this time of year quiet and no need for booking, but I have just been on their site now and they are booked for the mid July to end of August already! I guess that is because there is direct access to Gwithian Bay via a footpath across the farmland. They were growing lost of cauliflowers! After settling in, we walked down to Gwithian Bay what a stunning beach and views. We were very lucky with the weather.
In the evening we walked down to the Village pub, a very welcoming place!

Day 4 Thursday 31st March 2016
Today we decided to go down the mines and went to Botellack Mine. This meant travelling south towards Land's End.

An interesting place with lots of history and amazing coastline.
After Botellack we went on to Levant Mine which was also close by

Then we travelled back northwards up the coast towards Newquay, driving through St Agnes where we stopped for tea and ice cream, and then on to the coast road where we stoppped at Hell's Mouth
and then on to Fistral bay.
We had not booked anywhere to stay so we were looking for somewhere whilst driving, nothing seemed quite right. We headed into Mawgan Porth, a very small surf village with quite basic facilities, and happened to come across a site, stuck in a 70's time warp!!But it was only £15 per night and had hook up, so we braved it...scary walk to the toilets though and on the way we discovered the sauna!

We walked into the village and went to the pub for dinner - really busy and we were lucky to get a table. There was not a lot else open though except a fish and chip shop!

Our last day in Cornwall and we thought we would go out for breakfast, but there was nothing open in Mawgan Porth, so we headed to Padstow. Gorgeous little town and at this time of the morning quiet.
S had breakfast in a a cafe and I got a chocolate croissant from a bakery. After a short stroll around the town we headed for home.
I can't believe we have had such amazing weather for our first (of many) trip to Cornwall in the van! :)
